who do you consider an intellectual?
someone who's well read? who's delved into politics? or perhaps religion? a Phd. holder? or someone who's pondered life's big questions?
whatever it is, i realise i really am quite ignorant. i haven't read the must reads (e.g. the da vinci code), i haven't exactly gone throught the whole bible (i'm a pathetic catholic, can someone fire me from the congregation or something so i wouldn't be obliged to attend mass every sunday?), and i don't give a hoot about politics.
all i care about is completing my assignments on time (but they usually get handed up off time anyway), studying japanese (this i do fervently), reading japanese comics, what goes into my stummick, trying not to offend my friends, composing substandard music, and reading the occasional fiction for maybe the 1st few chapters.
i'm an ignorant humanoid, trying to act like an intellectual (take definition in a general sense) with my heightened linguistic abilities. it's as good as a vacuum in my nutcase.

I just had to respond. I am intrigued by the Catholic faith since that was how my husband was raised. I have learned a lot. Although, my husband is no longer Catholic and it's tough for me to get answers to my questions when he really didn't learn anything in twenty-plus years of Catholic education. Anyway....I'm not sure where Catholics base their "pressure" to attend mass b/c it doesn't come from the Bible. I just want to encourage you that you are not "obliged to attend mass every Sunday."
I am not Catholic, so of coure I don't know what I am talking about. But I am a Christian and I have read the Bible, all of it. One thing I have learned about Catholicism is that somewhere between the time Jesus died and the Reformation - Catholics stopped reading God's Word. If you have a question about something in your faith then why don't you go to the source to get the answer instead of letting a priest make you feel guilty for something that's not even required of you? My 2 cents, take it or leave it. And by the way... I'll fire you from the congregation. Go to www.notreligion.com for more answers.
Oops, religion debate. Please be open minded. And why am I making my confessions on this blog?!

I'm not a Christian myself, but a fervent (my spelling's a little off from rust accumal..accumilation... bah, drats.)
I'm not a Christian myself, but having pursued a deep thinking about life and its meanings, and finally coming to the conclusion that there is someone out there, that is just there. God, Buddha, Alla (er.. Ala?), are perhaps names that we have used to refer to this entity, like how we call a chair a chair.
Well, back to my point, a tree is a tree, a chair is a chair. Now if we are not english educated, a chair might not be called a c-h-a-i-r. Same goes to the great entity.
I'll just sit back and ponder and marvel at the creation of this world, the equilibrium that it has maintained (when we're sick, somehow there's herbs that can cure us. when it's hot, rain pours down).
Wherever or whatever may be the sole root to the world that is today, I apologize for being ignorant to not know your name, cause referring you without a-l-p-h-a-b-e-t-s may be the closest I can refer to you as. :D
Kristin fires Arinstrel from the congregation.
Arinstrel's parents drag her back, put her on a pew, and chain her to it.
would that be American cents?
just leave 'em on the table, thanks. i'll add them to my collection of curiosities. ^^
i know i have to read the Book, but it's about as compelling as reading a thousand page manual on how to fix an electrical appliance. Besides, my reading speed and retention rate has plummeted. (read the previous post?)
by the way, how did you arrive at my blog? i'm curious. are you a friend of a friend of my friend, or did a search engine churn out my addie?
I think she probably "next"-ed to your blog.
