"heh," the being turned to smile at him, the tips of his pinions brushing the duvet. "i'm your guardian angel. or was, to be exact. i... committed some wrongdoings and fell short of heaven's favour."
he rubbed his eyes and pinched himself.
"oh, i'm real alright," laughed the angel. "the only reason you can see me now is 'cause i'm in this transition state. from the heavenly to the earthly to the... fiery. i'm not supposed to let myself be seen by you, but since i'm already heading down, i can't be bothered."
already the angel was starting to lose opacity. "farewell, my charge. a new angel will be sent to you, i reckon."
"wait!" he called, grabbing the angel's arm. "about the exchanging soul for powers thing... how can it be done?"
a slight expression of shock registered on the being's face, but only for a moment. "well......"
